COMMON QUESTIONS

The things people ask before they upload anything

Is there really no file size limit?
Correct — transfers are streamed rather than loaded whole, so a multi-gigabyte file goes through the same way a small one does. What will limit you in practice is your own upload speed, which on most home broadband is the slow part rather than anything at this end.
Is my data encrypted?
Every transfer runs over HTTPS with TLS, so nobody between you and the server can read your files in transit. To be precise about it: that is transport encryption, not end-to-end encryption — the difference being that the server can technically access what is stored on it. If you need files nobody but the recipient can ever open, encrypt them yourself before uploading.
Who can see the files I upload?
Only the people you share with. CyberFiles works on a friend network rather than public links by default, so files go to accounts you have added and accepted rather than to anyone who happens to have a URL.
Can I stop people sending me files I did not ask for?
Yes. Every incoming share has to be accepted before it lands in your storage, and you can deny it with one click. Nothing arrives in your account because somebody else decided to send it.
Does it cost anything?
No. CyberFiles is free to use — there is no trial, no card required and no paid tier gating the file size. It exists because I needed it and it was worth building properly.
Do I need an account?
Yes, for both sending and receiving. The friend network and the accept-or-deny control are the whole point of the design, and neither works without accounts on both ends.
Who is behind CyberFiles?
Jamie Barnes, trading as JbTecWiz — an independent tech business in Taunton, Somerset. It is built and run by one person rather than a company, which is worth knowing either way before you put files on it.
