How AppLab Works
AppLab is a Google Play testing platform for Android developers and testers. Testers join Labs, complete the Google Play checklist, install and open the app, then send feedback before the 14-day deadline. Developers use the submission dashboard to monitor tester completion, open issues, and release readiness.
1. Register Or Log In
Create your tester account with your name, email, and password. Save your recovery key because it is used to recover your account if you lose access.
2. Join A Lab
Open Browse Apps, choose an app, and join the Lab. Each Lab can include Google Group and Play testing links that must be completed for full compliance.
3. Complete The Checklist
Join the Google Group, opt into Play testing, install the app, open it, and submit feedback. Your My Labs tab shows which steps are done and what is still pending.
4. Stay Active
Most Labs use a 14-day testing window. If you do not finish the required steps in time, you can be kicked from the Lab and lose points.
Tester Guide
- Use Browse Apps to discover active Android test cycles and join the Labs you want to test. Use the category filter pills (Game, Tools, Productivity, etc.) to narrow results by app type.
- Use My Labs to track your deadlines, verify Play testing steps, and open the feedback form.
- Use My Feedback to review the reports you already submitted and follow developer replies or status updates. If a tester has a PayPal link set, a Tip button will appear on their feedback items.
- Use Leaderboard to track your points, recent activity, and standing in the community. Testers with a PayPal link show a Tip button next to their name.
- Use Hall of Fame to browse every app that has completed testing. Each card lists the testers who contributed and links directly to the Play Store listing when available.
- Use Profile to update your name, country, Android device details, avatar, password, invite code, recovery key, and optional PayPal link for tips. Your country flag is displayed on your dashboard.
- Feedback supports compressed screenshot uploads and short video clips (MP4, MOV, WEBM up to 20MB) so you can show bugs clearly.
- Staying active matters — failing to submit feedback while enrolled in a Lab will result in a small daily points deduction until feedback is submitted.
- Earn achievement badges automatically as you hit milestones — First Feedback, Bug Hunter, Lab Rat, top leaderboard position, referral rewards, and more. Badges are shown on your Profile and Leaderboard entry.
- If a fellow Lab member has been inactive for 48 or more hours with zero feedback, you can cast a vote to remove them from the Lab. A written reason is required. Enough votes from active members will trigger an automatic removal.
- The AppLab Android app is a free signed APK (Android 7.0+). Once installed, the download banner will not appear again — the site detects you are already inside the app.
Kicks And Invalid Login Attempts
When Testers Get Kicked
Testers can be removed from a Lab for inactivity after the deadline. In the current system, inactivity kicks happen when the tester reaches the deadline without downloading the app and without submitting feedback.
What Happens After A Kick
Kicked testers lose points, the Lab is marked as kicked for their account, and they receive a notification telling them they were removed for inactivity and should uninstall the app to save space.
How To Avoid Being Kicked
Join the Play test quickly, install the app, open it, and send feedback before the 14-day deadline. Use the My Labs checklist and the notifications bell to stay on track.
Invalid Login Attempt Protection
AppLab temporarily blocks an IP address after 5 failed login attempts within 30 minutes. Successful logins do not count toward the limit. If blocked, wait for the cooldown period before trying again.
Developer Guide
- Use Submit App to add your Android app, version details, Play testing links, and app description. Select a category (Game, Tools, Productivity, etc.) and upload a real PNG/JPG/WEBP app icon for a polished Lab listing.
- Use My Submissions to track tester installs, feedback coverage, completion count, failed testers, and readiness for release.
- The release readiness card highlights blockers like critical bugs, missing Play setup, or not enough completed testers.
- Use the reminder buttons in My Submissions to nudge at-risk testers or incomplete testers directly from the owner dashboard.
- Labs can auto-close when the platform rules are met, including the 14-day window and the target completed tester count. Closed Labs are moved to the Hall of Fame automatically.
- Mark your app as In Production when it is live — an In Production badge will be displayed to testers browsing the Lab.
- As the Lab owner you have access to full vote-remove audit logs showing which testers voted to remove other members and the reasons they provided.
Release Notes
April 2026: APK Download Banner Suppressed In-App
The APK download banner no longer appears when AppLab is already running inside the Android app or any WebView-based browser. The banner only shows to regular browser visitors who have not yet downloaded the app.
April 2026: Hall Of Fame
A dedicated Hall of Fame tab now showcases every app that has successfully completed testing. Each card displays the app name, testing stats, the testers who contributed, and a direct link to the live Play Store listing where applicable. The tab shows total passed apps and the overall Lab success rate.
April 2026: Community Vote-Remove System
Active Lab members can now vote to remove a fellow tester who joined but has not submitted any feedback after 48 hours. Votes require a written reason and only apply to testers with zero feedback. Once enough votes are cast the tester is removed automatically. App owners can see full vote audit logs including who voted and why.
April 2026: Achievement Badges
Testers earn milestone achievement badges that are displayed on the Profile and Leaderboard. Badges are awarded for actions like submitting your first feedback, joining your first Lab, reaching point milestones, topping the leaderboard, recruiting new testers, and more. New badges unlock automatically as you hit each threshold.
April 2026: App Categories And Filters
Apps can now be assigned a category at submission time — Game, Productivity, Tools, Social, Media, Education, Health, or Other. Browse Apps displays colour-coded category tags on each app card and includes a row of category filter pills so testers can quickly narrow results to the types of apps they want to test.
April 2026: App Icon Image Upload
Developers can now upload a real PNG, JPG, or WEBP app icon when submitting an app. The uploaded image replaces the emoji icon on app cards across Browse Apps, My Labs, My Submissions, and the Hall of Fame, giving Labs a more professional and recognisable look.
April 2026: Country Flag And Profile Location
Testers now select their country during registration and can update it in Profile Settings. A flag emoji is shown next to the tester name on the dashboard bar, making it easy to see where your Lab community is coming from at a glance.
April 2026: PayPal Tip Button
Testers can now add an optional PayPal link to their profile. When set, a Tip button appears next to their name on the Leaderboard and on any feedback they submit, letting other testers support contributors directly via PayPal. The button is hidden on your own items.
April 2026: Video Feedback Uploads
Feedback submissions now support short video clips (MP4, MOV, WEBM up to 20MB) alongside the existing compressed screenshot upload. Attach a recording to show bugs or UI issues that are hard to describe in text.
April 2026: Daily Feedback Activity Penalty
Testers who remain enrolled in an active Lab without submitting feedback receive a small daily points deduction. This keeps Labs active and ensures developers receive timely, useful reports before the deadline.
April 2026: In Production Badge
Developers can mark their app as live on the store and an In Production badge is displayed on the app card in Browse Apps and My Labs, making it easy to see which projects have already shipped.
April 2026: Premium Tester Badge System
The site owner can assign a persistent AppLab Verified badge to any tester. The badge is displayed on the leaderboard and on app cards. Premium status is stored server-side and visible across all devices.
April 2026: Silent Live Refresh
AppLab refreshes live data in the background while you stay on the page, keeping apps, notifications, submissions, profile data, and key dashboard views current without visible page flicker or full reloads.
April 2026: Live Store Listing Badges
Apps can show a Live In Store badge and direct listing button when a real app store URL is available, making it easier to tell which projects are already published.
April 2026: Release Readiness Dashboard
Added per-app readiness scoring, release gates, blocker detection, next-step recommendations, and one-click tester reminder actions for developers.

Privacy Policy
What We Collect
AppLab stores the information needed to run the testing platform, including your name, email address, password hash, invite code, recovery key, optional profile image, optional device details, testing activity, feedback submissions, and notification history.
How Your Data Is Used
Your information is used to authenticate your account, show your tester profile, track your testing progress, award points, deliver developer feedback, and operate notifications, reminders, and Lab compliance tools.
What Developers Can See
Developers can see the tester name tied to feedback, the testing status for their Labs, completion progress, and device details that you provide for compatibility and debugging purposes.
Files And Uploads
Profile images, feedback screenshots, and feedback video clips are stored to support the platform experience. Screenshots are compressed before upload to reduce storage and bandwidth. Videos are accepted up to 20MB in MP4, MOV, or WEBM format.
Security And Retention
Passwords are stored as hashes, not plain text. AppLab also uses rate limiting to temporarily block an IP after repeated failed login attempts. Activity, notifications, app submissions, feedback, and kick history may be retained as part of the platform history, security monitoring, and moderation process while your account remains active.

AppLab Rule Book
This Rule Book defines the expected behavior for testers and developers using AppLab. These rules exist to protect Android developers, keep Google Play tests reliable, and make sure feedback and tester activity stay useful, honest, and fair.

Required
Complete The Test FlowAfter joining a Lab, testers are expected to complete the Google Play checklist: join the group if required, opt into testing, install the app, open it, and submit real feedback.
Deadline
Respect The 14-Day WindowLabs generally run on a 14-day cycle. Testers who reach the deadline without meaningful participation risk being kicked and losing points.
Quality
Send Honest, Useful FeedbackFeedback should describe real issues, steps to reproduce, expected behavior, actual behavior, and severity when appropriate. Spam, fake reports, or meaningless feedback weakens the platform.
Device
Use Accurate Device InfoIf you provide device model or Android version details, they should be accurate. Developers rely on that information for compatibility and debugging.

Submission
Provide A Real Test BuildSubmitted apps should be valid Android test candidates with clear app details, working Play test links when available, and enough information for testers to understand what they are testing.
Respect
Do Not Abuse TestersDevelopers should not harass testers, misuse personal information, or pressure testers to falsify installs, activity, or feedback.
Triage
Review Feedback ResponsiblyUse status changes, replies, and release-readiness tools to manage feedback professionally. Ignoring critical issues while driving for completion undermines test quality.
Ownership
Only Submit Apps You ControlDo not submit apps that you do not own or have authority to test. AppLab is for legitimate developer testing, not unauthorized uploads.

Security
Protect Your AccountKeep your password private and store your recovery key safely. The recovery key is the main account recovery mechanism inside AppLab.
Login
No Brute-Force AttemptsAppLab temporarily blocks an IP after 5 failed login attempts within 30 minutes. Repeated abuse of login systems is treated as hostile behavior.
Identity
No Fake Or Shared AccountsAccounts should represent a real tester or developer. Do not share accounts, impersonate others, or create misleading identities to manipulate rankings or feedback.
Deletion
Account Deletion Is PermanentIf a tester deletes their account, the platform removes the account and attached AppLab data. This action cannot be reversed from the UI.

Community
Lab Vote Removals Need A Real ReasonActive Lab members can vote to remove a tester only when that tester has remained inactive long enough to qualify. Each vote requires a written reason, and duplicate votes are blocked.
Limits
